The Skins Game is making a comeback after 16 years.

The PGA Tour and Prime Video announced Tuesday they will broadcast the event on Black Friday. Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, Xander Schauffele and Keegan Bradley will compete at Panther National in Palm Beach Gardens.

This will be the first edition of The Skins Game since 2008.

Under the format, golfers compete to win "skins," which is a monetary prize assigned to each hole. The dollar figure carries over to the next hole when the previous one was halved.

The PGA Tour is putting a slightly different spin on The Skins Game this fall. Thomas, Fleetwood, Schauffele and Bradley will all start with $1 million, and that number will fluctuate based on how the round is unfolding.

The Skins Game's revival will certainly make older fans feel nostalgic. The one-off spectacle was once a staple of the golf calendar, typically falling around Thanksgiving after the PGA Tour season concluded.

A number of legends took part over the years, and the first Skins Game in 1983 boasted Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson and Gary Player.

Interest in The Skins Game waned over the years, however.

"Quite frankly, when you open up with Jack and Arnie and Lee and Tom, you've got one way to go — and that's down," two-time U.S. Open champion Curtis Strange said in 2024, per Sports Illustrated's Max Schreiber. "Other than Tiger Woods, there's nobody that's gonna hold a candlestick to those four guys."

The novelty behind the concept started to wear off as more golf tournaments were broadcast on television and the PGA Tour increased its prize money.

After such a long hiatus, The Skins Game might have more appeal now, and its relatively close proximity to the Ryder Cup could add to the intrigue.

Fleetwood played a starring role as Europe beat the United States, a squad captained by Bradley that included Thomas and Schauffele. For one of the three Americans, winning The Skins Game won't make up for their disappointment at Bethpage Black, but it might feel extra satisfying nonetheless.
