Patriots' Stefon Diggs Explains Viral Josh Allen Side Eye Photo, 'That's My Brother'

Julia StumbaughOct 6, 2025

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs says he wasn't really side-eyeing Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen in the photo that went viral.

"That's my dawg. Obviously, things happened, and business happened, but spent a lot of time here. I got a lot of love and respect for that young man. Tremendous player. He's one of the boys," Diggs said Sunday night after the Patriots' Week 5 upset of the Bills. (h/t WROC-TV's Thad Brown).

Diggs continued, "They had that picture, right, of me side-eying him, but they just kind of caught it at the wrong time. I just wanted to speak on that photo because I was staring at him in the moment because it was like, 'Damn, that was my brother.'"

"I do got a lot of love and respect for him. It kind of looked like it was a side-eye, but that's not what it was. I was staring at him for a second as he was walking away, like damn, that was my guy."

The Patriots shared an edited version of the photo, in which Diggs was initially wearing a Houston Texans uniform, after Sunday night's 23-20 win.

Diggs spent four seasons with Allen and the Bills from 2020 to 2023 before he was traded to the Texans ahead of the 2024 campaign.

He may have said after the game that the victory over his former team was "100 percent" personal, but it's clear that whatever negative feelings Diggs has about his trade away from Buffalo don't involve Allen.

The two embraced on the field both before and after the Patriots' Sunday night victory in Buffalo.

Diggs' love for his former quarterback didn't stop him from putting up his best outing of the last two seasons in Buffalo.

The wide receiver recorded 146 receiving yards, his most since his trade from the Bills, on 10 catches Sunday.

After only making three catches for 33 yards while the Patriots fell behind in the first half, Diggs stepped up in the final two quarters to help lead New England to a comeback victory.

His longest catch came on a 32-yard throw Drake Maye on a third-quarter touchdown drive that gave the Patriots a late lead.

The Patriots will now hope to build on the positives from Sunday's win, including the connection between Maye and Diggs, when the team returns to action next weekend against the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints, which snapped a four-game losing streak with a Week 5 win over the New York Giants, are set to host the Patriots on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
