Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase Makes 3 Tackles as Jake Browning Throws 3 INTs vs. Lions

Ja'Marr Chase is one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, if not the best. On Sunday, he looked like more of a defensive back.

The Cincinnati Bengals wideout was credited with three tackles—and had a few pass break-ups as well—as quarterback Jake Browning threw three interceptions against the Detroit Lions.

At one point, Chase was literally tied for the team-high in tackles:

It's pretty clear that the Bengals aren't going to be able to persist with Browning at quarterback. Coming into Sunday, he had thrown five interceptions and taken seven sacks across three games, and it only got worse against the Lions. He simply isn't giving them a chance to win, with the Bengals heading to a third straight loss on Sunday.

The Bengals have playmakers on offense, but Browning isn't successfully utilizing them. There is no scenario in which Chase should have nearly as many tackles as catches.

Chase did ultimately record a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Chase finished the game—which the Bengals lost 37-24—with six receptions for 110 yards and two touchdowns, along with tackles.
