Giants' Malik Nabers Reportedly Expected to Return from Knee Injury by Training Camp

Zach BacharOct 4, 2025

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is expected to recover from a torn ACL and return for the start of training camp in 2026, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Nabers suffered the season-ending torn ACL, along with a torn meniscus, while attempting to haul in a deep pass during New York's 21-18 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4.

He's planning to undergo surgery "this week," Schefter reported.

Following Nabers' injury, one NFL executive from an opposing team told Schefter that "due to the FieldTurf playing surface, his players are 'petrified' of playing at MetLife."

The exec added that "if a player is nursing an injury, he might be less apt to play through it for a game at MetLife."

ESPN's Jordan Raanan also reported that Nabers had "an eye on returning for the start of next season."

A training camp return for the 22-year-old is a relatively encouraging outcome for the Giants, as it would allow him to have several weeks of practice and multiple potential preseason appearances under his belt before the 2026 season gets underway.

Nabers would also be able to build chemistry with Jaxson Dart, assuming Dart remains New York's starter heading into his 2026 campaign. The rookie quarterback earned his first career NFL start against Los Angeles.

In the meantime, Nabers' absence is a tough blow to the Giants' passing attack. He hauled in 18 receptions for 271 yards and two touchdowns in four games prior to the injury.

Nabers also wrapped up a breakout rookie season in 2024, amassing 1,204 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games. His 109 catches represented a new single-season franchise record.

For now, Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton will likely serve as New York's top weapons through the air to close out the year. Jalin Hyatt and Beaux Collins could see more playing time as well.
