49ers' Mac Jones Reportedly Vomited During Rams Game While Dealing With Cramping

Adam WellsOct 4, 2025

Mac Jones was all smiles after the San Francisco 49ers held on for a 26-23 overtime victory against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night, but the process of getting to the end of the game grueling for the veteran quarterback.

Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Jones vomited at one point while dealing with cramping in both of his legs.

There was a moment on the Amazon broadcast of Jones doubled over as he was walking to the sideline in overtime after the Rams got a stop on third down to force a 49ers' field-goal attempt.

Another camera shot showed Jones on the bench eating a banana to get potassium in his system and help with his cramping. He did clarify after the game that Al Michaels' comments during the broadcast about him eating 11 bananas over the course of the game wasn't quite right.

"Eleven? That's definitely wrong, but...,"ย saidย Jones. "I think I had three. Yeah, that (the banana figure) was incorrect, but they can believe whatever they want."

Even though Jones was only sacked once in the game, the Rams did rack up 10 quarterback hits. He also entered the matchup with aย knee injuryย and seemed like it was made worse at one point when he got hit, keeping him down on the turf for several seconds while grabbing at his knee/calf area.

Jones then popped up and was able to jog off the field, giving a high-five to teammates along the way. There were also times when he was seen getting his right arm massaged, indicating cramping in that part of his body.

When you add all of it up, it's even more surprising that Jones was able to play as well as he did. The 27-year-old went 33-of-49 for 342 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

The 49ers, whose roster has been depleted by injuries already this season, held on for a win over their NFC West rivals and improved their record to 4-1.
