Bucky Irving Reportedly Expected to Miss Bucs vs. Seahawks with Foot Injury

Adam WellsOct 3, 2025

Heading into a marquee matchup with the Seattle Seahawks, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be without running back Bucky Irving.

Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Irving is expected to miss Sunday's game due to a foot injury and is "in danger" of also being unavailable in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Irving sat out the Bucs' first two practices this week due to what the team has designated as foot and shoulder injuries.

The addition of Irving to the injury report came after he played a season-low 61.1 percent of Tampa's offensive snaps in the Week 4 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He left the game late in the first half after being tackled by Jihaad Campbell.

It wasn't immediately apparent after the game that Irving's injury might be more significant than originally thought, but head coach Todd Bowles told reporters on Monday he was concerned about the second-year back.

Per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, Irving was seen wearing a walking boot and using crutches during Wednesday's practice.

If the Buccaneers have to play without Irving, Rachaad White will be the next man up in the backfield. White has been a more effective runner on a down-to-down basis with a 56.5 percent success rate, compared to 36.6 percent for Irving.

The difference, however, is Irving's pass-catching ability. He has caught all 19 of his targets so far this season for 193 yards and two touchdowns. Emeka Egbuka is the only player on the tea with more receiving yards than Irving (282).

White is not without receiving talent. He's caught at least 50 passes in each of the past three seasons and has eight receptions on nine targets so far in 2025.

If the Bucs can maintain White's level of production running the football and utilize him in the passing game similar to what Irving has given them, they will be able to have success against a tough Seahawks defense.

Both the Buccaneers and Seahawks enter this matchup with 3-1 records. The Bucs will have home-field advantage on Sunday when they host Seattle at Raymond James Stadium.
