Whee Kim and Mark Hensby pace the field after the second round of the Barbasol Championship after lowering their scores to nine under overall in the tournament.

Kim used a four-under performance on Friday to get to his eight-under overall score. After going two under on the back nine, Kim used two straight birdies on the second and third hole to propel him to the top.

The PGA Tour shows his approach to the pin on hole No. 3:

As one of the last golfers of the day, Hensby used a late charge, birdieing his last two holes to earn a share of the lead.

Starting the day at two under, he used a three-hole birdie streak to get his day started from holes 14 to 16.

Emiliano Grillo went five under on Friday to settle at eight under overall in second place, moving up 11 spots. After parring the 10th hole, his first of the day, Grillo birdied the next four holes and then added another on No. 16 before a bogey on No. 17.

He added two more birdies on three and five but bogeyed his final hole of the day.

Charlie Beljan and Sam Saunders join Grillo in second place.

Thursday's leader, Saunders went one under on the day to sit at eight under on the tournament. After going even on the front nine, two birdies and two bogeys on the back nine had him set for an even finish.

But he managed to birdie the 18th hole to move up into second.

Beljan moved up 44 spots on a clean day with no bogeys. After four birdies on his first 10 holes, he birdied three of his final six holes to move into a share for second. This last birdie, as shown by the PGA Tour, put him in the lead at the time of his finish:

But he wasn't the biggest mover of the day. That honor belongs to Andres Romero and Glen Day, who used their solid days to join nine golfers in a tie for sixth place at seven under par.

Starting the day at even, Romero shot a seven-under 64, moving up 65 spots. After two birdies on his first six holes, Romero eagled No. 16. Making is way to the front nine, a bogey on one was quickly wiped away by four birdies on his last five holes.

Day was one over on Thursday but used a consistent Friday to hop up 85 spots. He birdied half of his holes in the second round, going eight under on the day.

Here the PGA Tour shows his 19-foot birdie putt on the eighth hole, his last birdie of the day:

As the field is cut, the leaderboard is crowded by a bevy of golfers who are within just a few strokes of one another. Any sort of inconsistency will provide the top of the pack with a carousel of different leaders as they battle to become the first winner of the Barbasol Championship.
