Bucky Irving Reportedly Has Foot Injury, Spotted on Crutches Ahead of Bucs-Seahawks

Julia StumbaughOct 1, 2025

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving has been diagnosed with a left foot sprain ahead of Sunday's Week 5 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday.

Irving was using crutches and wearing a boot on his left foot Wednesday, Rick Stroud reported for the Tampa Bay Times. Schefter later added that Irving's injury is not feared to be long-term, but that the running back is considered week-to-week.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that Irving was "still gathering medical opinions" on the injury.

Irving led the Bucs with 63 rushing yards on 15 carries on Sunday. He also made five catches for 102 receiving yards, including a 72-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Irving got rolled up later in the third quarter on a forced fumble by Eagles defenders Jalyx Hunt and Jihaad Campbell.

The running back finished out the game. Indications as to the severity of his injury surfaced the following day, when Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles told reporters Irving was one of multiple players who needed to undergo MRIs after the game.

Irving, a 2024 fourth-round pick, worked his way into the Bucs' starting lineup by the end of his rookie season. His continued success has been key to helping the Bucs climb out to a 3-0 start during his second NFL season.

He so far leads his team this season with 237 rushing yards and 71 carries, while also recording a team-high 19 receptions through four games.

The Seahawks have deployed an effective run defense so far this season, ranking sixth in the NFL with just 359 rushing yards allowed through four games.

If Irving misses time with top wideout Mike Evans also sidelined by injury, the Bucs will need a big game from Rachaad White this weekend. Sean Tucker could also receive a larger workload on Sunday if the Bucs are in further need of backfield help.
