Bucky Irving's Status Reportedly 'Up in the Air' for Bucs vs. Seahawks amid Injury

Zach BacharSep 30, 2025

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving's availability is reportedly uncertain heading into a Week 5 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, Irving is dealing with soreness from an "ankle and/or foot injury" that has made his status "up in the air" for Tampa Bay's return to practice on Wednesday.

Irving is still gathering medical opinions regarding the injury, per Garafolo and Rapoport.

The second-year running back suffered the injury while getting tackled just before the end of the first half during Tampa Bay's 31-25 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4.

While Irving was able to come back in the third quarter and finish the game, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles expressed concern regarding the injury after the defeat.

Irving started in each of Tampa Bay's first four games to open the 2025 season, picking up 237 yards on 71 carries. He also caught 19 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns.

The former fourth-round pick is looking to build upon an impressive rookie year in 2024, amassing 1,514 all-purpose yards and eight total touchdowns while averaging 5.4 yards per carry.

Irving finished No. 6 in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.

His potential presence will be important heading into a matchup with a Seahawks squad that owns the NFL's No. 6 run defense to begin the season, allowing a mere 89.8 yards per game on the ground.

If Irving ultimately isn't able to suit up, Rachaad White will handle the bulk of available carries in the backfield.

White has rushed for 108 yards and one touchdown across four appearances this year.
