Ravens' Lamar Jackson Reportedly Could Miss 2-3 Weeks With Hamstring Injury

Timothy RappOct 1, 2025

Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson is unlikely to play against the Houston Texans and could miss two to three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4, according to Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun.

Jackson did not practice on Wednesday, casting his status for Sunday in doubt, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Injuries have been a major storyline for the Ravens this season, and Jackson was in the center of that during Week 4 when he left a 37-20 loss against the Chiefs due to a hamstring injury.

On Monday, head coach John Harbaugh made it clear that there was "no way" Jackson could have returned to the game:

It was a rough week for the Ravens. Left tackle Ronnie Stanley, linebacker Roquan Smith (who will reportedly miss a few weeks) and defensive backs Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins were each injured in that game as well, while defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike (who was ruled out for the season on Monday) and edge-rusher Broderick Washington Jr. were put on injured reserve before the game.

No injury is more detrimental to Baltimore's title hopes than one to Jackson, however.

The 28-year-old and two-time MVP winner is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the sport. His 2024 season was one for the ages (4,172 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, four interceptions, 915 rushing yards, four rushing scores), and while injuries have been an issue at times in the past, he only missed one game between the 2023-24 seasons.

The Ravens were certainly hoping for that level of durability in the 2025 season, though that may now be in question.

If Jackson is forced to miss additional time, Cooper Rush would step in as the starting quarterback. He had ample experience doing so for the Dallas Cowboys in recent seasons, given some of Dak Prescott's injuries, though he's obviously an enormous downgrade to Jackson.

Frankly, most quarterbacks alive are. Baltimore is in major trouble if Jackson is ever unavailable for a significant chunk of time.
