Plane Flies Banner Urging Dolphins to Replace Tua, McDaniel, Grier in Photo
The Miami Dolphins are 0-3, and fans are not happy about it.
That means the plane banners are back yet again.
Ahead of Monday's game against the New York Jets, a plane was spotted above Hard Rock Stadium with a banner that said, "Help Wanted. New Coach. New GM. New QB."
Asking for a quarterback to replace Tua Tagovailoa is taking things a step further than the banner a plane was flying ahead of Miami's Week 2 game against the New England Patriots.
That banner advocated for just the firing of general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel ahead of the home opener:
At this point, the Dolphins aren't listening to the planes.
In fact, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported earlier this month that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross remains an advocate for McDaniel in particular despite the disappointing start to the season.
"Here is my understanding of where it all stands. Stephen Ross, the Dolphins owner, plans to be patient," Rapoport said. "Almost always in the past in similar situations, he has been patient. I do not sense anything imminent regarding a potential change in Mike McDaniel's job status. Mostly because Stephen Ross likes him, believes in him and has invested in him."
There are no moral victories in the NFL, but Miami did look much better in its Week 3 game against the Buffalo Bills than its first two losses to the Indianapolis Colts and Patriots. Rapoport's report came shortly after that loss to Buffalo, so perhaps there was some optimism moving toward the future.
Tagovailoa's touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill helped the Dolphins tie the game at 21 in the fourth quarter against a presumed Super Bowl contender in Buffalo, although he threw an interception deep in the Bills' territory later in the quarter with another chance to tie the game.
Perhaps a victory over the Jets in Monday's AFC East showdown after such a close loss to the undefeated Bills will change some minds in Miami.
For now, though, there are still planes letting the team know how fans feel.
