Aaron Rodgers Makes History, Steelers Hyped by Fans for Win vs. Carson Wentz, Vikings
An efficient day was all it took for star quarterback Aaron Rodgers to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to victory while making history along the way.
Rodgers completed 18 of his 22 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown as the Steelers defeated the Minnesota Vikings 24-21 on Sunday in the NFL's Dublin Game in Ireland. His lone touchdown pass made him the second quarterback in NFL history to have 60 or more touchdown passes against two different teams, joining Tom Brady as the Vikings joined the Chicago Bears.
Rodgers showed an improved connection with Steelers star receiver DK Metcalf, who caught all five of his targets for 126 yards and a score. Metcalf entered the game with 135 yards for the entire season so far.
Despite playing without starting running back Jaylen Warren while he nurses a knee injury, Pittsburgh produced 131 yards on the ground, with veteran speedster Kenneth Gainwell leading the way with 19 carries for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz, who was starting for the second time this year in place of the injured J.J. McCarthy, threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to make it a close game, but the Steelers held on to improve to 3-1 while Minnesota fell to 2-2. Wentz finished with 350 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions on 30-of-46 passing, though he was sacked seven times.
Fans on social media were impressed with Rodgers' strong day in Pittsburgh's win on Sunday:
The Steelers will be on a bye in Week 5 before returning to action on Oct. 12 against the AFC North rival Cleveland Browns.
