Micah Parsons, Kenny Clark Reportedly Will Be Captains for Packers-Cowboys After Trade
Micah Parsons and Kenny Clark will be captaining their new teams against their old teams, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.
Glazer reported the pair will be "honorary" captains for Sunday's clash between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. The Packers acquired Parsons from the Cowboys in August, sending Clark and a pair of first-round pick to Dallas.
Teams announce their captains before the 2025 season kicks off, but coaches are afforded some flexibility from week to week.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer are well aware of the narratives at play Sunday night at AT&T Stadium.
Green Bay and Dallas have a long history together, so there's a little extra edge whenever they face off.
Parsons' return to Arlington, Texas, was circled the moment he wound up on the Packers. That subplot is somewhat overshadowing the fact Clark spent nine years in Green Bay and now finds himself on an opposing sideline.
"He always brings his hard hat to work and he's a guy that's been doing that consistently for the last nine years he's been in the league," Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins said, per Wes Hodkiewicz of the team's official site. "So we've just got to get ready for it and he's probably going to have his piss hot playing us but it's going to be a good battle though at the end of the day."
The opportunity to beat an NFC rival is motivation enough, but Parsons and Clark will each carry a chip on their shoulder when Sunday's game is underway.
