There's no indication that the A's are planning to use Sacramento as the official city designation in their name, but it is another step toward making it feel like their home while they are playing there.
The Athletics used a sleeve patch of the Tower Bridge with "Sacramento" written in script lettering on their jerseys this season.
After their lease with the city of Oakland expired at the end of the 2024 season, the A's signed a three-year lease with Sacramento to play games at Sutter Health Park, the home of the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A affiliate, for three seasons with an option for a fourth if the ballpark in Las Vegas isn't complete before the start of the 2028 season.
Construction on the new stadium in Vegas began in June when A's and city officials held a groundbreaking ceremony.
Per MLB.com's Martín Gallegos, the A's will use their Sacramento jerseys for every Saturday home game next season. It is part of the "Sacramento Saturdays" promotion at Sutter Health Park.
Gallegos also noted A's players will have the option to wear the top on other days of the week for either home or road games.
Sunday will mark the Athletics' final game of the 2025 season when they host the Kansas City Royals. They have a 36-44 record at Sutter Health Park. Their 76 wins overall are their most in a season since 2021 (86-76).
