On the heels of a wild, chaotic, and unpredictable TNA invasion Tuesday night, NXT returned to Peacock for its latest premium live event, No Mercy.

All of the black and silver brand's championships were on the line and some of the hottest, most intensely personal rivalries came to a head in high-stakes grudge matches.

What went down, how did each match grade out, and what impact did they have on the immediate future of the brand?

Find out with this recap from the September 27 special event.

Je'Von Evans vs. Josh Briggs

2 of 8
NXT

Last Time in Action: Je'Von Evans lost to Sami Zayn (SmackDown, September 26); Josh Briggs defeated Evans (NXT, September 2)

Just 24 hours removed from a United States Championship opportunity against Zayn, Evans sought redemption as he squared off against Briggs in one of the night's two non-title grudge matches.

Briggs took advantage of an exhausted Evans, wearing him down with his power and strength advantage. The Young OG fought back, though, firing off a series of rights and lefts before dropping him with a DDT.

Moments later, he launched himself off the top rope and onto Briggs on the floor, then followed up with a frog splash that may or may not have resulted in a three count.

From there, the combatants spent the rest of the match throwing everything they had at each other. Briggs attempted a super chokeslam from the top rope but Evans countered and landed on his feet. When the heel finally did deliver the move, Evans kicked out at two.

Briggs delivered a trademark lariat but everything he attempted was for naught as the resilience and persistence of his opponent won out. Evans ultimately delivered a springboard cutter, then added another from the top rope for the win.

Top Moments and Takeaways

  • Evans badly needed this win. As Booker T noted on commentary, he has been in major matches, with titles on the line, but has repeatedly failed to win them. This was a watershed moment and one that should set him up to continue to be one of the faces of this incarnation of NXT.
  • A strong match featuring two stars of different styles, it had the crowd hot early on as they were invested, one way or the other, in them. Building intensity, culminating in Evans' rapid-fire cutter combo, put an exclamation point on things nicely.

WWE Women's Speed Championship Match: Sol Ruca vs. Jaida Parker

3 of 8
WWE - NXT Great American Bash

Last Time in Action: Sol Ruca and Zaria lost to The Culling in a Triple Threat Match also involving Fatal Influence (NXT, September 9); Jaida Parker lost to Lash Legend (NXT, September 2)

Shawn Michaels announced moments before No Mercy went on the air that Lainey Reed, originally slated to challenge Ruca, would not compete due to an injury suffered yesterday.

Parker stepped up to answer the open challenge and found herself countering and cutting off Ruca's offense early and often in the five-minute time limit bout.

With less than one minute remaining, Parker delivered a Hipnotic but allowed herself to get distracted by Zaria at ringside, then by Legend. She ducked a spear from the Aussie but ate a Sol Snatcher as soon as she re-entered the squared circle, allowing Ruca to retain her title.

Top Moments and Takeaways

  • The match was a nice showcase for two of NXT's homegrown talents and while the nature of the match demands a rushed product, neither looked to be frazzled and most of their stuff hit. Ruca, in particular, is main roster ready and should be competing on Raw or SmackDown sooner rather than later.
  • Parker and Legend will almost certainly have unfinished business coming out of the show and if not, may be forced together to battle ZaRuca as soon as Tuesday's show.

Weaponized Steel Cage Match: Jordynne Grace vs. Blake Monroe

4 of 8
WWE - NXT Heatwave

Last Time in Action: Jordynne Grace defeated Arianna Grace (NXT, September 23); Blake Monroe lost to Kelani Jordan (NXT, August 26)

A rivalry months in the making came to a head Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida as Grace and Monroe squared off in a rare Weaponized Steel Cage Match.

The Juggernaut attempted to utilize a steel chair but her damaged hand slowed her down. Monroe introduced a kendo stick and unloaded on Grace, who fired up and gave her a taste of her own medicine, followed by a spinebuster on the aforementioned chair.

A blind charge into the chair, sandwiched in the corner, halted Grace's momentum and allowed Blake to seize control of the contest. The Glamour sandwiched her opponent's injured hand in the cage, actively targeting it.

The heel trapped Grace in the ropes with a hairdryer, then proceeded to cut her hair, adding insult to injury. Driven by rage, the former TNA Knockouts champions punished her opponent with a barrage of clotheslines, then tripped her up on the ropes and delivered a Samon Drop to the mat below.

She laid into her with a weightlifting belt but Monroe recovered and sent Grace face-first into a trashcan. She dropkicked the babyface into the cage, then followed with a running knee. Looking to continue the pain and suffering of her opponent, Monroe unloaded a bag of diamonds on the mat, only to suffer a fisherman buster on them.

Grace shoved the hair Monroe had cut earlier into the heel's mouth, then set her up on the top rope. The Glamour ducked out of harm's way, hung Grace in the Tree of Woe, and trapped her in a trash can. A double stomp followed.

Moments later, with a table set up down below, they scaled the cage. Monroe hurled a handful of powder in Grace's eyes but The Juggernaut delivered an Air Raid Crash that drove the heel through a table and earned her the victory.

Top Moments and Takeaways

  • The crowd started cooler than one would expect but it built nicely until the crowd ate up the finish.
  • This was Monroe's most memorable match to date, and that can be attributed to its creative nature. Even dating back to her days in AEW, she has been at her best when she is involved in the more wild, chaotic, and hardcore matches. This was no different, thanks to some inventive spots and an exclamation point of a finish.

NXT North American Championship Match: Tavion Heights vs. Ethan Page

5 of 8
WWE Archive

Last Time in Action: Ethan Page defeated Tyler Breeze (NXT, September 16); Tavion Heights defeated Page (NXT, September 9)

Heights entered Saturday's match with two consecutive victories over Page, looking to make it a clean sweep and claim his first singles title in NXT.

The North American champion weathered an early storm, delivering a big back body drop to Heights that allowed him to capture control of the match. The Olympian fought through the pain, though, and mounted a comeback that saw him catch All Ego in an ankle lock, ala fellow Olympian, Kurt Angle.

Page fought out and applied a Boston Crab, further damaging the lower back of the challenger.

Heights recovered and applied a sleeper on the top rope, but Page fought out and delivered a power slam to the mat below. He transitioned seamlessly, delivered a Twist of Fate, and scored the victory.

After the match, El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. appeared on the video screen and warned Page that he has his eyes on the North American Championship.

Top Moments and Takeaways

  • The match was fine and Heights worked hard. Timing is still something he will have to work on, but he is clearly a better worker than he was before his time in Japan. Page meshed well with him and was the right choice to go over here.
  • NXT's ability to crossover with TNA and AAA makes it an intriguing brand to follow. It would be unstoppable if the creative would be more consistent.

NXT Women's Championship Match: Lola Vice vs. Jacy Jayne

6 of 8
WWE - Evolution

Last Time in Action: Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana defeated Finn Balor and Roxanne Perez (AAA x WWE Worlds Collide, September 12); Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Jazmyn Nyx lost to Rhea Ripley, Lyra Valkyria, and Stephanie Vaquer (NXT, September 16)

Jayne spent months proving doubters wrong, successfully defending her NXT Women's Championship in three defenses across 100-plus days. She faced one of her toughest opponents to date in Vice, who sought to score the biggest win of her young career Saturday.

The champion toyed with Vice early, attempting to embarrass her in front of her family, friends, and hometown fans. When Vice fired up, an alert Jayne delivered a senton that sandwiched Vice between her and the steel steps.

With the challenger favoring her back, Jayne targeted it, delivering a Backstabber for a two count. Vice fought through the pain, fired up, and unloaded with her trademark strikes. She added a running hip attack in the corner and wiped Henley out at ringside before Jayne rocked her with a pump kick.

Back inside, Vice responded with a kick of her own, only for Henley to break up the pin by pulling the official to the floor. With Henley ejected from ringside, Vice trapped the champion in a rear naked choke, but the heel countered out.

Frustrated, Jayne headed outside and grabbed the women's title, attempting to use it to her advantage. The referee prevented it and after a flurry of roll-ups and reversals, the challenger obliterated the champion with a back fist. She fell to the floor, however, and a woman clad in black rocked her with a kick.

Vice narrowly beat the count but Jayne flattened her to retain the gold and earn the victory.

Jayne defeated Vice to retain the title

Grade

Top Moments and Takeaways

  • Jayne does not get enough credit for the asset that she is for the women's division in NXT. She is a veteran competitor, holds her own against any opponent, and delivers the character work that is oh-so-important in WWE. She was vital to the success of this match and was the perfect heel to combat the hometown hero Vice.
  • A strong match that earned the "this is awesome" chants from the fans, this exceeded expectations and highlighted the fact that Vice is ready to be champion sooner rather than later.

NXT Championship Match: Ricky Saints vs. Oba Femi

7 of 8
WWE Archive

Last Time in Action: Ricky Saints, Oba Femi, Hank, and Tank defeated DarkState (NXT, September 2); Femi fought Trick Williams to a no contest (NXT, September 23)

Saints challenged for the NXT Championship for the first time Saturday, facing the unenviable task of dethroning the seemingly unconquerable Oba Femi.

The challenger brought plenty of energy early but an ill-advised attempt at a tope suicida was met with a hard forearm by the champion, who proceeded to overwhelm Saints with his hard hitting and raw power.

The Babyface fought his way back into the match, avoided the Fall From Grace, but ate a big uppercut. Moments later, he made up for it, delivering a spear for a two count.

Saints delivered a powerbomb for his own near-fall but moments later, had his momentum used against him as Femi tossed him across the squared circle. The aggressor attempted his trademark powerbomb but Saints countered into a rollup for another count of two.

A powerbomb attempt by Femi on the announce table was countered when Saints delivered a DDT.

On the floor, Saints delivered a tornado DDT, but the champion answered with a wicked chop to the chest that drove that air out of him. The Fall From Grace followed, only for the fan-favorite to kick out at two, to the shock and awe of the champion.

Saints recovered, added the third and fourth DDTs of the match, and won the title to the delight of the fans.

Result

Saints defeated Femi to win the title

Grade

B+

Top Moments and Takeaways

  • Saints overcame The Ruler to win the match and title, resorting to technique and opportunity to best him. The match was solid, even if the finish felt like it could have been a bit more emphatic.
  • This felt like the passing of a torch, as if Femi is about to make a jump to the main roster. If so, he has earned his status as one of the great NXT champions in the brand's history.

Overall Grade

8 of 8
WWE Archive

NXT No Mercy 2025 was a perfectly acceptable show, with solid in-ring action featuring some bright faces of the future of WWE.

It was also wholly unnecessary and almost immediately overshadowed by the announcement early in the show of NXT Invasion, which will occur on October 7 and feature interpromotional, Survivor Series-style matches pitting the black and silver brand against TNA Wrestling.

Saints winning the NXT title was the lone, major, must-see happening, even if there was plenty else to like about the show in the moment.

With nothing truly exceptional, the show simply happened and is not likely to be memorable for much more beyond the aforementioned title change in the main event.
