Rory McIlroy Tells Fans 'Shut the F--k Up' in Viral Ryder Cup Moment Caught on Video

Rory McIlroy is done with the hecklers at the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Per Christopher Powers of Golf Digest, McIlroy told the assembled gallery on the 16th hole during Saturday's morning foursome play to "shut the f--k up" after they had been taunting him throughout the round and making noises during his pre-shot routine.

Even though that would seem to be an indication the crowd got to McIlroy, he actually followed up by hitting his second shot within three feet of the hole. Tommy Fleetwood made birdie to give the European team a point with a 3 and 2 win over Harris English and Collin Morikawa.

Speaking to reporters after the match (h/t Powers), McIlroy said he has no problem with fans taunting in between shots, but it needs to be toned down when players approach the ball.

"Look, between shots, say whatever you want to me. That's totally fine," McIlroy explained. "But just let us—you gave us the respect to let us hit shots, and give us the same chance that the Americans have, I guess."

Despite his frustration in that moment, McIlroy had no problem playing along with the fans throughout the day. He blew kisses to the crowd after they chanted "f--k you, Rory" when he was introduced.

It's been a rough time for Americans at the Ryder Cup, both for the players representing the country and the fans in the stands at Bethpage Black. The fans are getting owned by McIlroy in between him helping the European squad extend their lead.

Europe won three of the four matches in the Saturday morning foursome. It now leads the U.S. by five points (8.5 to 3.5) going into the afternoon four-ball session.

The Europeans are six points away from retaining the Ryder Cup. The last time they won consecutive titles was during their three-peat from 2010 to '14.
