Travis Kelce Downplays Heated Andy Reid Exchange During Chiefs-Giants, 'Love that Guy'

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce says his relationship with head coach Andy Reid is as strong as ever despite a heated exchange on the sideline of a Week 3 win over the New York Giants.

When asked by The Kansas City Star's Sam McDowell what reporters should make of the interaction, Kelce answered, "What Andy made of it. I love that guy, man."

Kelce continued, per McDowell: "There's nothing outside of this building that's going to make me feel any different way. We know exactly each other's intentions. I think what Coach Reid does best is he challenges guys to be at their best, and I love that about him. It definitely helped me take my game to another level that game."

Reid, who watched Kelce make four catches on seven targets for 26 yards in the Chiefs' first win of the season, previously downplayed the sideline incident when asked about it on Monday.

"He's a passionate guy, and I love that part. I've been through a lot of things with him, so that's all part of it," Reid said Monday. "I love that he loves to play the game, that's what I love. And it's emotional game, so I'll take it."

This isn't the first time Kelce and Reid have drawn attention for their interactions during games.

Kelce and Reid also visibly clashed on the sideline of Super Bowl LVIII, which the Chiefs went on to win over the San Francisco 49ers.

After starting out the 2025 season with losses to the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles, Reid will hope Kelce's energy can help the Chiefs build on the Week 3 win during Sunday's upcoming matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.
