Brock Purdy's Status for 49ers vs. Rams in NFL Week 5 TBD Amid Toe Injury
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy's status for Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Rams is unclear as he deals with toe soreness.
"Hopefully we'll find out more later today, but any time guys are sore and hurting on a Monday, you usually don't stress too much about it," coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday, via ESPN's Nick Wagoner. "But anytime you have a Thursday game, it's a totally different element. So, I'm concerned with anybody who's not totally healthy at this moment, but we'll have to get more information on that later today to really have a clue of what to speculate."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Purdy told reporters on Tuesday that he wouldn't be able to play if the game was on Tuesday night but noted he has two days before a decision has to be made:
After missing two games with a toe injury, Purdy played in San Francisco's Week 4 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
After Purdy first suffered the injury, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the signal-caller was dealing with a variant of turf toe and was expected to miss between two and five weeks.
He's also navigating through an issue with his non-throwing shoulder.
While Purdy wasn't able to build upon his 2023 Pro Bowl season in 2024, he still completed 65.9 percent of his throws for 3,864 yards and 20 touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions. His 64.8 QBR ranked No. 7 among 32 qualified quarterbacks.
He finished 26-of-35 for 277 yards and two scores while getting picked off twice during the 49ers' Week 1 victory over the Seahawks. In Week 4, he went 22-of-38 for 309 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
San Francisco has been hit hard by injuries to start its 2025 campaign, with star pass-rusher Nick Bosa suffering a season-ending torn ACL in Week 3.
Should Purdy miss time, backup passer Mac Jones—who has been dealing with a knee sprain—would potentially be next in line under center.
