Terrion Arnold Discusses Trash-Talking DeAndre Hopkins, 'You Not Even Like That'

Mike ChiariSep 25, 2025

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold provided some insight this week into his Week 3 battle with Baltimore Ravens wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

During a discussion with Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II on their Closed on Sundays with Pat and Terrion podcast, Arnold revealed some of the verbal barbs he traded with D-Hop on Monday Night Football:

Arnold said Hopkins told him, "You too small, boy," after Arnold was called for pass interference. Arnold added that he responded by telling Hopkins, "Boy, you ain't even like that."

The second-year corner noted that Hopkins asked him how many All-Pros he has after a particular play. Hopkins is a three-time First Team All-Pro in his own right, but Arnold reminded him that he didn't get his first until his fourth year in the league, although it actually wasn't until Hopkins' fifth season in 2017.

Hopkins was held to only one catch for 13 yards on Monday, and Arnold also got the satisfaction of winning the game, as the Lions prevailed 38-30, dropping Baltimore to 1-2 on the season.

The 33-year-old Hopkins is one of the best wideouts of his era with five career Pro Bowl selections to go along with his three First Team All-Pros.

He also has 989 career receptions for 13,077 yards and 85 touchdowns, although his production in recent years has paled in comparison to what he did during stints with the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals.

In 16 games last season split between the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs, Hopkins finished with 56 grabs for 610 yards and five touchdowns, marking the worst production of his career in a season in which he didn't miss multiple games due to injury or suspension.

Still, the Ravens signed him during the offseason to add a veteran presence to their receiving corps, and through three games, he has five catches for 112 yards and two touchdowns.

Arnold, 22, was a first-round pick out of Alabama in the 2024 NFL draft, and he is looking to establish himself as one of the league's best defensive backs.

With more performances like the one he delivered against Hopkins in Week 3, that could soon become a reality.
