Guardians' David Fry Out 6-8 Weeks, Has Facial Fractures After Being Hit By Pitch
The Cleveland Guardians announced designated hitter David Fry suffered "multiple, minimally displaced, left-sided facial and nasal fractures" when he was hit by a pitch from the Detroit Tigers' Tarik Skubal in Tuesday's 5-2 win.
While he's no longer in the hospital and doesn't require surgery, Fry will need around six to eight weeks to make a full recovery.

Skubal visited Fry in the hospital on Tuesday night, according to The Athletic's Zack Meisel. A group of Guardians players also went to visit him.
With runners on the corners in the sixth inning, Fry attempted a sacrifice bunt to bring a run home. A 99-mph sinker from Skubal caught him flush in the face.
"We're all thinking about David and his family right now," Vogt told reporters after the game. "Obviously, we're glad he's OK, but obviously it's a really scary moment. I'm thinking about him."
The Guardians placed Fry on the 10-day injured list and recalled outfielder Johnathan Rodríguez from their Triple-A affiliate. Given the fact he could miss up to two months, the facial injuries all but end his season, even if Cleveland qualifies for the playoffs.
The 29-year-old struggled at the plate this year. In 66 games, he batted .171 with a .363 slugging percentage.
Fry delivered in big moments last October. He hit a go-ahead two-run home run in Game 4 of the ALDS against the Tigers and propelled Cleveland to victory in Game 3 of the ALCS against the New York Yankees with a walk-off two-run homer.
The Guardians are on pace to play October baseball again. Tuesday's win put them in a dead heat with the Tigers for first place in the American League Central, and they own the head-to-head tiebreaker over Detroit.
