Browns Reportedly 'Looking At' Trade Options After Dawand Jones' Season-Ending Injury

The Cleveland Browns are "looking at" trade options after losing starting left tackle Dawand Jones to a season-ending knee injury, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Wednesday.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters Monday that Jones, who did not return to Sunday's Week 3 win over the Green Bay Packers after suffering the injury in the first quarter, is undergoing surgery that will sideline him for the rest of the season.

When asked Monday about the plan to replace Jones, Stefanski answered, "Just work with the guys we got, and have a plan, and get them ready."

Stefanki then declined to commit to Cornelius Lucas, who started Sunday in place of injured right tackle Jack Conklin, and KT Leveston, who played 94 percent of the Browns' offensive snaps after Jones left the game, as starting tackles going forward.

Lucas is playing in his 12th NFL season. Leveston, a 2024 draft pick who sat out his rookie campaign with an ankle injury, has more limited NFL experience.

Conklin, who started Week 1 at right tackle, is meanwhile considered day-to-day with his elbow injury.

"All things that we have to work through," Stefanski answered when asked if Lucas and Leveston would start against the Detroit Lions in Sunday's Week 4 matchup.

The Browns already made a cutdown day deal to bolster the team's offensive tackle depth by trading a 2028 seventh-round pick to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Leveston.

Browns general manager Andrew Berry could consider another deal to bring the roster total back to four offensive tackles in the short term.

In the long term, Jones' first three NFL campaigns all resulting in season-ending injuries raises concerns about his durability as a starter going forward. Depending on Berry's trade activity this fall, the Browns may ultimately decide to target the position in the 2026 NFL draft.
