The New York Yankees have re-signed first baseman Paul Goldschmidt to a one-year contract, per ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The 38-year-old Goldschmidt has played 15 MLB seasons. He played his first eight with the Arizona Diamondbacks before spending his next six with the St. Louis Cardinals.

He sports a fantastic resume that includes seven All-Star Games, five Silver Sluggers, four Gold Gloves and the 2022 National League MVP award. Goldschmidt notably led the National League with 36 home runs and 125 RBI in 2013, and he paced the NL with a .978 OPS in 2022.

In Dec. 2024, Goldschmidt signed a one-year, $12.5 million contract with the Yankees, with the idea being that he'd help replace last year's starter, Anthony Rizzo.

Goldschmidt fared well in the Bronx, hitting .278 (.743 OPS) alongside 10 home runs and 44 RBI. His power wasn't as present as in previous years, but he still provided a steady presence and glove at first.

New York clearly respected his efforts in 2025, and it's no surprise he's back in town as the Yankees run it back with a well-liked veteran who could very well earn a place in the Baseball Hall of Fame someday.
