WWE HOFer 'Macho Man' Randy Savage to Be Subject of Biographical Movie
Fans of legendary WWE Hall of Famer "Macho Man" Randy Savage are in for a treat.
Matt Grobar of Deadline reported that a feature biopic on Savage is being developed by Artists for Artists, a production company founded by Johnny Ryan Jr. and veteran actor Kenan Thompson. The script for the film was completed by Savage's brother Lanny Poffo, who died in February 2023, and Eric Shapiro.
Thompson and Ryan was described as "lifelong fans" of Savage. Thompson even worked with Savage on a Nickelodeon promo when he was a child actor in 1999.
"Beyond excited for this one!! Macho Man is hands down one of the greatest of all time and can't wait to bring his story to the screen!!!" Thompson said in a statement to Deadline.
Ryan added, "Macho Man Randy Savage was the greatest showman of all time and the OG bad boy of entertainment. His outfits were as electric as his personality and he's so much more than an artist, he's an icon. Lanny and Eric did a great job capturing this story and the crazy 80s wrestling era that turnt wrestling figures into life long pop culture icons."
Born Randy Mario Poffo, "Macho Man" Randy Savage was one of the most iconic figures in professional wrestling history. He died of a sudden heart attack while driving in Florida in 2011 at 58 years old. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015.
