Aidan Hutchinson Explains Causing Derrick Henry's Fumble in Lions' Win vs. Ravens

Doric SamSep 23, 2025

Detroit Lions star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson came up clutch in Monday night's 38-30 win over the Baltimore Ravens when he forced a fumble by the usually sure-handed Derrick Henry at a key moment in the fourth quarter.

"I saw an [opportunity] and I took a shot," Hutchinson said.

Hutchinson's big play came after the Lions offense went three-and-out while clinging to a 28-24 lead, and the turnover helped the team gain some separation on its way to its second win of the year.

"I saw that ball cradling a little bit, and I put my head down and just threw the biggest hook I could," Hutchinson said of the play after the game, per The Athletic's Colton Pouncy.

Henry, who is arguably the best running back in the league, was noticeably disappointed in himself while he spoke to reporters after the game, and he said he apologized to his team for his crucial mistake.

"I apologized to my teammates, my coaches, I apologize to Flock Nation. Just gotta keep working," Henry told reporters.

Hutchinson finished with two tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in Monday night's win. It was his second straight game with a sack as he continues to return to form after suffering a broken fibula five games into the 2024 season. With him leading the charge, the Lions sacked Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson a whopping seven times in the victory.

After a 27-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers to start the season, the Lions reminded the rest of the league why they're projected to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Detroit has scored a combined 90 points in its last two games, and its defense has performed at a high level with players like Hutchinson making their presence felt.

The Lions will try to earn their third straight win when they host the Cleveland Browns in Week 4.
