Humphrey Says Ravens Defense is 'Not Very Good' and Steelers, Bengals Won't 'Fear' Us
After the Baltimore Ravens fell to 1-2 following Monday night's 38-30 loss to the Detroit Lions, frustrations are starting to mount on the defensive side of the ball.
Veteran cornerback Marlon Humphrey had a candid assessment for the state of the Ravens defense following Monday's game.
"We're just not very good," Humphrey said, per The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec. "They did whatever they wanted to do all night."

The Ravens were out-gained by the Lions 426-318 in Monday's loss, which marked the second time this season that they allowed over 35 points.
It seems like Baltimore's struggles on defense aren't much of a surprise, as Humphrey had lamented about the unit's decline before the start of the season when he wondered whether the team's division rivals still respect him and his teammates like they used to.
"When I first got here, obviously, the Ravens' defense, I felt like teams feared what we did," Humphrey said in July, per Zrebiec. "Now, we are trying to get that back, but I mean, I don't think the [Cincinnati] Bengals fear our defense. I don't think the [Pittsburgh] Steelers fear our defense."
Through three games, the Ravens rank last in the NFL with an average of 415.0 yards allowed and 31st with 32.0 points allowed. It was just a year ago that they were in the top 10 in both categories with 324.2 yards and 21.2 points allowed per game.
Baltimore was expected to be one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the AFC, but its early-season struggles are starting to raise questions about the team's ability to compete for a title.
Things won't get much easier for the Ravens in Week 4, as they will be facing the three-time defending conference champion Kansas City Chiefs in a marquee matchup on Sunday.
