Trey Benson and the Best NFL Week 4 Fantasy Football Waiver-Wire Pickups

Alex KaySep 23, 2025

Regardless of whether your fantasy football team has started 3-0, 0-3 or somewhere in the middle, Week 4 is the perfect time to play the waiver wire.

With James Conner out for the season, Trey Benson has been elevated to the Arizona Cardinals' lead back and has real potential to be a league-winning pickup. If you've been waiting to spend your FAAB bucks or have been sitting on the top waiver priority, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better opportunity to use it.

Even if Conner isn't available in your league, there are several other free agents who have promising fantasy outlooks following an unfortunate rash of injuries that hit some of the NFL's biggest stars.

Whether you need to replace a marquee talent set to be sidelined for several weeks or simply want to add some depth with bye weeks drawing closer, this is an ideal time to make a few free-agent claims.

With that in mind, read on for a look at Week 4's top waiver targets at every position.

Suggestions are available in approximately half or more of all Yahoo! Sports leagues. Fantasy points and rankings courtesy of FantasyPros' PPR data taken prior to the weeks' Monday Night Football matchup. Suggested free-agent acquisition budget (FAAB) bids are based on a $100 dollar starting budget.

Quarterback

1 of 5
Raiders Commanders Football
Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith

Geno Smith, Las Vegas Raiders (28 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $1-3

Smith's tenure with the Raiders is off to an ugly 1-2 start, but the veteran quarterback at least finally had his first big fantasy outing of 2025. Smith secured a top-five finish after tallying 26.1 points (19-of-29 passing for 289 yards and three touchdowns) against the Washington Commanders.

Although you may not want to lock him in as your QB1 on a permanent basis, Smith is poised to record another top-8 finish with a porous Chicago Bears defense on tap in Week 4. He's a top streaming option against an opponent that has given up the fifth-most passing yards and conceded more passing TDs than any other team in 2025.

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams (31 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $0-1

The Rams may not have been able to hold onto their big lead against the Eagles on Sunday, but Stafford at least indicated that he's trending back towards fantasy relevance in a 33-26 loss to the defending champs. The veteran's QB13 showing may not jump off the page, but it was his best of the season and came against one of the league's truly elite defensive teams.

Expect Stafford to challenge for a top-10 finish against a much softer Colts foe in Week 4.

Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks (19 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $0-1

Darnold may not be the force he was with the Vikings last year, but he just led the Seahawks to a second consecutive double-digit victory. He also notched his first top-10 fantasy finish of 2025 in the process despite throwing just 18 passes on the day. The Cardinals will present a tougher challenge next week, but there's good reason to believe Darnold will build on his Week 3 showing with more volume against a heated divisional rival.

Jaxson Dart, New York Giants (5 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $0-1

With Russell Wilson floundering for the second time in three weeks and suffering a third consecutive loss, it's time for managers with stable but underwhelming quarterback situations to consider stashing Dart. The rookie showed immense promise in the preseason and could become a fantasy star if he continues that level of play after his inevitable takeover of Big Blue's QB1 role.

Running Back

2 of 5
Cardinals Saints Football
Arizona Cardinals RB Trey Benson

Trey Benson, Arizona Cardinals (52 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $50-65

Benson will be first big waiver wire catch of 2025. Although he was already rostered in a shade over half of all leagues, he's still surprisingly up for grabs in 48 percent of formats. That won't last long as managers everywhere converge to put in claims and bids for the potential superstar.

While Benson's rookie year was underwhelming, he's been trending towards a breakout campaign for a while. He now has an opportunity to capitalize on a massive increase in volume with only Emari Demercado and undrafted rookie Bam Knight to contend with for backfield touches. Expect Benson to log a snap share of 75 percent or higher, which will result in plenty of top-10 fantasy finishes over the remainder of the 2025 season.

Ollie Gordon II, Miami Dolphins (19 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $4-7

Gordon was a trendy sleeper pick going into the season and finally began to realize some of his upside for a winless Dolphins squad in Week 3. The rookie earned a career-high nine totes and found paydirt for the first time, finishing as the RB24 with 9.8 points.

With his standalone value rising and elite handcuff potential as Miami's RB2 behind De'Von Achane, Gordon should be rostered in all leagues.

Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons (39 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $2-4

The Falcons are leaning on Bijan Robinson more than ever, but it remains to be seen if the third-year vet can hold up to the intense workload. If Robinson were to miss any time, Allgeier will be ready to seamlessly step in as the team's feature back. That upside alone makes him well worth a claim for managers in deeper leagues or lacking backfield depth.

Woody Marks, Houston Texans (9 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $1-2

The 0-3 Texans will be desperate to shake things up following their latest disappointing loss. The Nick Chubb-led backfield needs a spark and that could come in the form of more playing time for Marks. The fourth-round rookie has seen his volume increase each week since the opener, plus he's first in line for a massive uptick in touches should the injury-prone starter get sidelined.

Tyjae Spears, Tennessee Titans (30 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $1-2

Spears is a fantastic stash candidate for managers who can afford the wasted roster spot for a couple more weeks. He'll be eligible to return as early as Week 5 and projects to see plenty of touches for a desperate Titans squad when he does get back on the field. There will be a rush to add Spears when he's officially reactivated, so get ahead of the surge by picking him up now.

Wide Receiver

3 of 5
Colts Titans Football
Tennessee Titans WR Elic Ayomanor

Elic Ayomanor, Tennessee Titans (21 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $8-12

Ayomanor has been one of the few bright spots for a downtrodden Titans squad this season. The unheralded rookie has posted back-to-back top-25 fantasy finishes, including most recently when he secured four of his five targets for 38 yards and his second consecutive touchdown reception.

Ayomanor is rapidly emerging as one of quarterback Cam Ward's favorite targets—his 18 looks are only three behind team-leader Calvin Ridley—and it's not a stretch to think he'll get even more involved going forward as head coach Brian Callahan and his staff try to convince ownership that they're the right choice to continue developing the team's young talent past this lost season.

Darnell Mooney, Atlanta Falcons (45 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $4-7

After missing the opener, Mooney quickly ramped up his usage in Atlanta's offense. He saw four targets in his 2025 debut and almost tripled that in Week 3 when he reeled in four of his 11 looks for 44 yards. Although he's not worth trusting as anything more than a desperation flex play quite yet, Mooney will become a must-start if continues to see that type of volume on a consistent basis.

Troy Franklin, Denver Broncos (43 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $3-6

Franklin came back down to earth in Week 3 after a hot start to his sophomore season that included a WR7 finish in Week 2. Despite the down 2.8-point game, Franklin's chemistry with Bo Nix—the quarterback he partnered with for two years at Oregon—is clear to see and should result in plenty more big days in the future.

Tory Horton, Seattle Seahawks (2 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $1-2

Horton is quietly emerging as a key piece of the Seahawks' passing attack. He's now had back-to-back 32-yard, one-touchdown games, the latest of which resulted in a career-high WR13 finish. If he can continue finding the end zone while increasing his target count, he'll become a good depth option for fantasy managers seeking bye week fill-ins.

Luther Burden III, Chicago Bears (11 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $1-2

Burden finally had the breakout game that fantasy managers have been hoping for. The trendy offseason sleeper shook off a poor start to his career to rack up 101 yards and a score in Week 3. While that production came from just three catches on three targets, it should result in him getting more involved in head coach Ben Johnson's steadily improving offense.

Tight End

4 of 5
Browns Ravens Football
Cleveland Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr.

Harold Fannin Jr., Cleveland Browns (47 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $4-8

Fannin is surprisingly available in more than half of all fantasy leagues despite a red-hot start and steady production at a position largely devoid of consistent contributors.

While he is coming off a career-low 5.5-point outing, he's still a major part of Cleveland's offensive plans. Fannin is one of the best pass-catchers and playmakers the Browns have at their disposal, so expect him to bounce back with his third top-12 finish of 2025 next week.

Mason Taylor, New York Jets (6 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $1-2

There's a dearth of serviceable tight ends to claim on waivers right now, so managers could do far worse than grabbing Taylor as their streaming choice for Week 4. He's been a fixture on the field for Gang Green as their clear-cut TE1 and that type of playing time should result in a breakout game soon. A dismal Miami defense could be exactly what Taylor needs to finally post a top-12 finish.

Chig Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans (22 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $0-1

Okonkwo may not be the exciting sleeper pick he was earlier in his career, but he still has some value as a serviceable matchup-based streaming choice. The Titans leader in both receiving yardage and catches this season should rack up plenty more targets as Cam Ward's safety valve during this weekend's clash with a desperate Texans opponent.

D/ST

5 of 5
Broncos Chargers Football
Los Angeles Chargers S Derwin James

Los Angeles Chargers (49 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $1-2

You won't find a better D/ST streaming choice than the Chargers in Week 4. The team has a dream matchup with the Giants, who will give up plenty of points to any opposing defense as long the turnover- and sack-prone Russell Wilson remains under center.

The Bolts have already recorded seven sacks and three takeaways on the year. Expect them to use this clash with Big Blue to greatly add to those totals while improving upon an already-elite average of just 16.7 points allowed per game..

San Francisco 49ers (38 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $0-1

The Niners may be without Nick Bosa for the foreseeable future after the superstar edge rusher suffered a knee injury, but this can still be a fearsome defensive unit going forward. It certainly helps that San Fran gets to play the Jaguars in Week 4, as this soft matchup will allow the defense to find its footing without Bosa and put up more strong fantasy marks.

New York Jets (13 Percent Rostered)

Suggested FAAB Bid: $0-1

The Jets have regressed significantly on the defensive side of the ball, but this group has too much talent and experience to remain a bottom-tier fantasy unit under new head coach Aaron Glenn. A juicy matchup with the winless Dolphins and interception-prone quarterback Tua Tagovailoa should provide Gang Green's D/ST with its best finish of September.
