Cam Skattebo's Fantasy Outlook with Giants' Tracy Jr. Reportedly Out with Injury

Timothy RappSep 22, 2025

New York Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. dislocated his shoulder on Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs and is "expected to miss some time," per ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

That means Cam Skattebo is in line for a much bigger role going forward, potentially making him a very valuable fantasy player to roster while Tracy is sidelined.

Skattebo showcased what he might offer fantasy players in a larger role last night, rushing 10 times for 60 yards and a touchdown while adding six catches for 61 yards on eight targets.

He was basically the team's only effective offensive weapon in a miserable 22-9 loss, as the Chiefs largely took wideout Malik Nabers out of the game (two catches for 13 yards on seven targets) despite Russell Wilson throwing one ill-advised downfield pass after another.

It is worth noting that Devin Singletary remains in New York and received four carries last night, so Skattebo likely won't become a pure feature back going forward. He also probably won't have nearly the same impact in the passing game on a weekly basis—coming into the contest, he had four catches for 26 yards on five targets across his first two games.

But Skattebo is a pure bruiser who was likely to receive the majority of the goal-line touches before the Tracy injury, and that's a virtual guarantee now. He's also in line for a much larger workload in general, and volume is always incredibly valuable for fantasy backs.

There is the concern that the Giants aren't very good and may be facing a lot of second-half deficits, which could be a recipe for Wilson throwing the ball around. We also only have a three-game sample of what Skattebo offers behind a suspect offensive line, and while his two touchdowns the past two weeks have been nice, he only has 102 rushing yards through three games.

The temptation is to consider Skattebo an RB2 while Tracy is out, but that may be partly because watching him truck opponents is just... well, it's really fun. We all want him to be the guy. But in reality, this New York offense is pretty poor, and that might drag down Skattebo's potential value as well.

For now, consider him an absolute waiver priority this week if he's somehow still available in your league and a very strong flex consideration. But pump the brakes a bit on anything beyond that until we have a bit more of a sample size.
