Jason Kelce Tells Deion Sanders That Eagles Players 'Are Taught to Hate Jerry Jones'
It is deeply baked into Philadelphia fans and players on the Philadelphia Eagles to dislike the Dallas Cowboys, and by extension, to despise team owner Jerry Jones.
Former center Jason Kelce admitted as much during Monday's New Heights podcast, though he said he's been swayed of late in regards to Jones.
"As an Eagles player, you're taught to hate Jerry Jones," he said before breaking the hearts of Philly fans by admitting that he's "kinda turning into a Jerry guy" after watching the America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys documentary and seeing Jones' cameo on the Landman show (19:15 mark).
Kelce is basically Philadelphia royalty, so he'll probably be forgiven for his podcast transgression. Eagles fans will also rest comfortably with the team's two Super Bowl titles since 2017 and four total Super Bowl appearances since 2004, while the Cowboys haven't won or appeared in a Super Bowl dating back to 1995 (and that team was largely comprised of players added by former head coach Jimmy Johnson, the architect of the team's success in the early 1990s).
Since then, the Cowboys have won all of five playoff games. The Eagles have won six playoff games since 2022 alone.
There's no question that Jones has helped turn the Cowboys into one of the biggest brands in all of professional sports. The Cowboys were the NFL's most valuable franchise for a 19th straight time in 2025, per Forbes, worth an estimated $13 billion. Fans of the NFL's other 31 organizations often bristle at the notion of the Cowboys being "America's Team," though "America's Most Valuable Team" might be a more apt nickname.
At times, however, that has come at the cost of experience for the players and coaches, or for the product on the field.
This season, the team has started 1-2 and has struggled immensely stopping the pass in the wake of trading superstar edge-rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers rather than paying him a lucrative extension. It doesn't seem likely that the Cowboys will add a sixth playoff win since 1996, or end their 30-year title drought either, and many of the team's fans are pretty fed up with Jones.
