Saturday's Wrestlepalooza reportedly underwent some slight changes for its most high-profile matches.

According to a report from Fightful Select (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News), the original plan was for the rivalry match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar to be the main event of WWE's debut show on ESPN. However, the decision was later changed to have Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes close the show with his title defense against Drew McIntyre.

While Lesnar is known to have a preference of leaving shows early, that reportedly wasn't the reason why his match against Cena was moved to the opening bout of the show.

"It was confirmed to us that at one point, Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena were slated to main event," the report stated. "We were told it in fact was not changed because Brock wanted to fly out early, which is something he does actually like to do."

Fightful Select later revealed that ESPN had a hand in deciding how Wrestlepalooza ended.

"We're told that the decision to have Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre to main event was because ESPN wanted something with the pomp and circumstance of a big title match headlining," the report stated (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News).

Lesnar defeated Cena in what is likely the final match of their rivalry ahead of Cena's impending retirement. Rhodes successfully defended his title against McIntyre to close out the show.

AJ Lee, Becky Lynch Praised for Wrestlepalooza Performance

AJ Lee's return to the ring for the first time in nearly a decade at Wrestlepalooza reportedly went over well, and her opponent, Becky Lynch, was credited with helping things run smoothly.

After Lee teamed with her husband CM Punk to defeat Lynch and Seth Rollins in a mixed tag team match, Fightful Select reported that many within WWE felt like she didn't show any signs of her long layoff from the ring.

"We've heard the backstage reception to AJ Lee's first match back was very positive. Those that we spoke to in WWE felt she did really well," the report stated (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News).

Lee pulled out all of her signature moves as she turned back the clock, earning chants of "You've still got it!" throughout the match.

In addition to Lee's impressive performance, Fightful Select reported that Lynch was credited with guiding the former Divas Champion throughout her return match, which is a role that the Women's Intercontinental Champion is used to playing.

"Becky Lynch was heavily credited for her performance, one longtime WWE name said that Lynch has helped lead so many wrestlers through matches when they've taken long absences and they feel she did well," the report stated (per Carrier).

Fans will certainly be hoping that Lee will stick around to continue her rivalry with Lynch following her stellar comeback match.

Plans for Major Feud for MFT Scrapped

After it initially appeared that MFT was on the verge of a feud with the Wyatt Sicks, it sounds like WWE has other plans.

A report from BodySlam.net revealed that WWE shifted its attention from a rivalry between the two factions following the arrival of Sami Zayn to SmackDown and his win against Solo Sikoa for the United States Championship.

"There was a plan for an MFT vs. Wyatt Sicks feud to begin. However, plans seemed to have changed for now," the report stated (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News). "With Sami Zayn moving to SmackDown, and holding the U.S. Championship, there was a shifting of creative for the MFT."

The scrapped plans leaves the Wyatt Sicks without a clear opponent as they continue their reign as WWE Tag Team Champions.

It will also be interesting to see how things play out for MFT going forward, as the group could turn its attention back to tormenting Zayn.
