Breanna Stewart Makes History in Liberty's Loss to Mercury in WNBA Playoff Bracket

New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart became the fastest player to score 1,000 career postseason points on Friday, accomplishing the feat in 46 career playoff games.

The defending WNBA champion Liberty fell 79-73 to the Phoenix Mercury in Game 3 of their first round playoff series, ending their season. However, Stewart was sensational, scoring 30 points to go along with nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.

Diana Taurasi holds the WNBA's all-time playoff scoring record with 1,486 points. Stewart is now also tied with Taurasi for the most games of 30 or more points per contest. Stewart is now sixth on this list but sits first in points per playoff game (21.9 PPG).

Two other active players sit on the WNBA's top-10 playoff scoring list: Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner (second with 1,221 points) and Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson (eighth with 937 points).

Wilson, who has played 46 playoff games, could very well hit the 1,000-point mark this year, as her team remains in the postseason field with a second-round date scheduled against the Indiana Fever.

As for Stewart, the former UConn superstar has now played nine WNBA seasons, averaging 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds along the way. Her accolades include two WNBA MVP awards, three WNBA titles, three Olympic gold medals and six All-WNBA First Team honors.
