Jayden Daniels, Emeka Egbuka, NFL Injury Statuses and Fantasy Impact for Week 3

Joe TanseySep 19, 2025

The waiver-wire scramble for quarterbacks includes fantasy football players with Jayden Daniels on their rosters.

The Washington Commanders quarterback was officially ruled out of Sunday's clash with the Las Vegas Raiders due to a knee injury.

Marcus Mariota is one of a slew of backups set to play in Week 3. Mariota is one of the more serviceable backups in that bunch.

Jayden Daniels Out For Commanders' Clash With Raiders

Marcus Mariota will start for the injured Jayden Daniels on Sunday.

Daniels is dealing with a knee injury that will keep him sidelined for Week 3's clash with the Raiders.

Mariota helped the Commanders pick up a pair of wins in 2024. He had a pair of multi-touchdown games through the air in those games.

Mariota also ran for 34 and 56 yards in the two games he played significant time in last season.

The former Raiders signal-caller is one of the better waiver-wire pickups at quarterback. He should be a solid addition as a spot starter while Daniels gets healthy.

There's a decent sample size from last season in the same offense and he's facing a Raiders defense that conceded the seventh-most passing yards in the NFL.

If you can't add Mariota, Carson Wentz is your best choice among the backups due to his matchup with a Cincinnati Bengals defense that allowed 539 yards and four passing touchdowns in two games.

Emeka Egbuka Listed As Questionable

Emeka Egbuka is one of the front-runners for fantasy rookie of the year.

The Ohio State product produced three touchdowns in his first two NFL games for the Buccaneers.

He should be on the field on Sunday against Jets. He participated in practice on Friday and is listed as questionable.

Egbuka is nearing must-start territory in fantasy football because of his exposure in the Tampa Bay passing game with Chris Godwin out.

Tennessee rookie wide out Elic Ayomanor and Denver's Troy Franklin are among the potential replacements off the waiver wire for Egbuka if he can't go on Sunday.

Carolina's Hunter Renfrow is a deep sleeper option as well after he scored twice in Week 2.
