Myles Garrett Reveals Reaction to Micah Parsons Trade, 'Holy S--t, He Did It'

Zach BacharSep 19, 2025

Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett detailed his reaction to Micah Parsons' surprising trade from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers ahead of the 2025 season.

"Holy s--t, he did it," Garrett said, per Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal.

Parsons requested a trade from the Cowboys on Aug. 1 after contract discussions with the team broke down and was eventually sent to the Packers in exchange for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks on Aug. 28.

Parsons also received a four-year, $186 million contract extension from Green Bay following the swap. Prior to the deal, Garrett says Parsons told him he'd top his $40 million per year contract.

"I remember him talking about, you know, we're sitting in the sauna during the offseason, and he was like, 'You know, if I get a deal, I'm gonna beat the **** out of your deal,'" Garrett told reporters, omitting the word in question.

Garrett advocated for his fellow pass-rusher to get paid earlier in the summer.

"I think he deserves whatever he's earned," Garrett told Abby Jones of DLLS Sports on June 15 (h/t NFL.com's Kevin Patra). "I mean, the guy is special. Once I got the chance to train with him, I've seen his work ethic, I've seen how he attacks the weights, running. He's 100 percent committed to his craft and getting better every day, and [he's] someone who produces on the field and has that dedication to the game. He should get every penny he's owed."

Garrett also earned a hefty new deal over the offseason, signing a four-year extension worth $40 million per year that included $123.5 million in guaranteed money with the Browns on March 9.

Garrett and Parsons are now two of the three highest-paid defensive players in the NFL in terms of total contract value, per Spotrac.

Both players have shown why their respective teams made massive financial commitments to them at the start of the 2025 season.

Garrett has racked up six tackles for loss and six pressures to go along with 3.5 sacks in two games.

As for Parsons, he's recorded 1.5 sacks and four quarterback hits while amassing six pressures of his own. His 23 percent pass-rush win rate also ranks No. 14 among edge-rushers through two weeks, via ESPN.

Garrett's Browns and Parsons' Packers will meet in Week 3, with kickoff on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
