WWE's Roman Reigns Teases 'Street Fighter' Role as Akuma in Social Media Video
WWE Superstar Roman Reigns posted a teaser video Friday on X regarding his role as Akuma in the upcoming Street Fighter movie.
In the clip, Reigns looks at a Street Fighter arcade cabinet featuring Akuma on the screen before his eyes glow red, which is a hallmark of the Akuma character.
Reigns is one of three pro wrestlers starring in the film, along with WWE champion Cody Rhodes as Guile and NJPW's Hirooki Goto as E. Honda.
The 40-year-old Reigns is one of the most popular and recognizable wrestlers of the past 15 years, holding WWE world titles on six different occasions, in addition to being a former United States, intercontinental and tag team champion, and a Royal Rumble winner.
He is perhaps best known for being world champion for 1,316 days from 2020 to 2024, which is the fourth-longest world title reign in WWE history behind only those of Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund and Hulk Hogan.
Reigns' star power in professional wrestling has helped him secure some acting roles in movies over the years as well, including appearances in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, The Wrong Missy and The Pickup.
Playing Akuma in Street Fighter could prove to be Reigns' biggest role yet, and it could potentially lead to even more acting opportunities in the future.
Former WWE stars such as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, John Cena and Batista have gone one to enjoy enormous success in Hollywood, and Reigns seemingly has the looks and acting chops needed to follow in their footsteps.
The Legendary Pictures and Capcom-produced Street Fighter is officially slated for an Oct. 16, 2026, release.
