Josh Allen Hints He'll Continue to Wear Helmet Visor After Bills' Win vs. Dolphins

Adam WellsSep 19, 2025

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen found out on Thursday that wearing a helmet visor doesn't negatively impact his game and protects his nose, so he could keep it for at least one more game.

Speaking to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe after the Bills' 31-21 win over the Miami Dolphins, Allen said his visor worked "great" and he "might keep it around."

Allen suffered a bloody nose in Buffalo's Week 2 game against the New York Jets when defensive end Micheal Clemons' hand got under his facemask while trying to tackle the quarterback in the first quarter.

The play required Allen to leave the game for two plays, though he was able to return after the Bills' medical staff got the bleeding to stop.

"Obviously gushing blood," Allen said of the situation after the game. "I just wanted to try to get off the field and stop it."

The Bills posted a clip from Tuesday's practice showing Allen wearing a helmet with a visor, indicating he would likely be using one for at least their next game.

Allen had no issues with Miami's defense on a short week. He went 22-of-28 for 213 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bills to a 3-0 start for the second consecutive season.

Visor or not, Allen has been close to unstoppable thus far. The reigning NFL MVP has 755 passing yards, 114 rushing yards and accounted for seven touchdowns (five passing) without committing a turnover.

The Bills will get a few extra days to recover before they are back in action against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 28. They will be going for their first 4-0 start since 2020.
