Chelsea Transfer News: Victor Moses Bid Made by Tottenham, Latest Rumours

Rory MarsdenJul 17, 2015

Chelsea's Victor Moses is potentially set for a move to Tottenham Hotspur after the the north London outfit lodged an £8 million bid for the winger.

According to the Mirror's John Cross, Spurs are looking to bring in Moses as a replacement for the likely outgoing Andros Townsend.

The 24-year-old Moses has failed to make himself a regular fixture in the Chelsea first team since his move from Wigan in 2012, spending last season on loan at Stoke City following a year with Liverpool.

Potters boss Mark Hughes expected Moses to make his mark at Chelsea in the coming season, but it seems Tottenham are looking to prise him away from Stamford Bridge, per Match of the Day:

Cross noted that Spurs may fail in their bid to sign Moses given the frosty relations between the two clubs.

However, the Premier League champions may be open to letting the Nigeria international go, especially if they can beat Liverpool to the signing of Barcelona star Pedro, per Spanish daily Sport (h/t MailOnline's Matt Morlidge).

Blues boss Jose Mourinho has built a strong squad at Stamford Bridge, as proved by their Premier League-winning form last season.

Moses has failed to become part of the core side at Chelsea, and should Pedro move to Stamford Bridge, that will surely bring an end to the forward's career in west London.

Moses netted three times for Stoke last season and made 19 Premier League appearances, per Squawka.

While not overly prolific, he would surely be an adequate replacement for the goal-shy Townsend should the England international depart Spurs for reported suitors Newcastle, Sunderland or Aston Villa, per Squawka:

Moses was an exciting prospect at Wigan, but he has failed to fulfil his potential at Chelsea, as he has been used only sparingly.

A move to White Hart Lane would seemingly be good for his future career, but it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can come to an agreement.
