Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Angel Di Maria, Edinson Cavani Rumours
Manchester United will accept a bid from Paris Saint-Germain for Angel Di Maria if it meets their valuation, according to Jason Burt of the Telegraph, who believes an offer worth "around £40 million" is in the offing.
However, Burt cited "senior sources" at the the French club when suggesting PSG aren't willing to mobilise close to the £59.7 million United paid for Di Maria last summer.
James Robson of the Manchester Evening News suggested the player will have a huge say in the potential transfer:
B/R UK's Jonathan Johnson tweeted the latest from L'Equipe:
Burt noted PSG won't allow United to use this opportunity to snag Edinson Cavani away from the Parc des Princes:
Cavani isn't a "prime target" for United boss Louis van Gaal, according to Burt, who indicated PSG are counting on him for future goals. It is suggested the sale of Zlatan Ibrahimovic will allow Cavani to move into a regular central striker's role and away from his frustrating positioning on the left of Laurent Blanc's 4-3-3 formation.

Getting rid of Di Maria after just one season would be a bold move by Van Gaal. Although the manager is known for being ruthless, Di Maria has so much more to offer United. He showed glimpses of top-quality play last season—his goal away at Leicester City and key pass prior to Juan Mata's winner against Liverpool among them—but continued to lose concentration when carrying out the basics.
He enjoyed a successful Copa America, and with a year in England under his belt, could become a leading asset for United. Van Gaal rotated him last season to make a point: If you're not playing well enough, it doesn't matter who you are and what you've won, you won't get a free pass. Blanc would likely deploy Di Maria from the left, but only if Cavani is freed up to play through the centre.
If Van Gaal is seriously ready to let Di Maria leave, the club should explore the possibility of signing Ibrahimovic in exchange. The 33-year-old ranks among the sport's greatest characters and would go down a storm at Old Trafford, a stadium where the equally cocky and lovable Eric Cantona's name is fondly remembered.

United need a goalscorer after the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao. There's few better than Zlatan, who could follow in RvP's footsteps by delivering a title and quickly moving on.
Big decisions certainly need to be made. Van Gaal has added players who can help Di Maria excel, so it would be a massive step backwards to send him across the Channel. Significant investment is still needed up top for United, who cannot challenge for a title with just Wayne Rooney and James Wilson as designated strikers.
