Kershaw, who will almost certainly be a first-ballot Hall of Famer, was saluted by MLB fans after his retirement news.
Kershaw has spent his entire career with the Dodgers, earning an MVP award, three Cy Young Awards, 11 All-Star appearances, a Gold Glove, two World Series titles and the pitching triple crown in 2011.
He made his debut in 2008 and quickly established himself as one of the best pitchers in the game. He remained one of MLB's top pitchers until his last few seasons.
Even though Kershaw isn't the dominant arm he once was, he's managed to stay productive. This season, he's made 20 starts, recording a 10-2 record behind a 3.53 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP.
While he's nowhere near the level he once played at, it's rare to see a pitcher still making a significant impact this late into his career.
But the work is not done yet for Kershaw.
The Dodgers are sitting at 85-67 on the season and are looking to finish strong to clinch the NL West for a third consecutive season. After that, they'll try to defend their World Series title, and Kershaw will remain a key piece of Los Angeles' postseason rotation.
