Chiefs' Chris Jones Says He Wasn't Complaining About Tush Push in Video vs. Eagles

Timothy RappSep 18, 2025

Cameras caught a heated Chris Jones saying during Sunday's 20-17 loss to the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles that the Birds "ran the same play seven f--king times," which was believed to be a reference to the infamous Tush Push.

Jones clarified Thursday, however, that he was instead referencing an inside zone run play.

"The clip that was going around wasn't because of the Tush Push," he told reporters. "It was because of the inside zone they tried like five or six times. I never once complained about the Tush Push on the sidelines. ... That [clip] was because they ran the inside zone like five times, and I'm like, as a defensive line, we gotta adjust to that. It's no way a team is gonna come out and run inside zone five times on us and we don't adjust to that."

It wasn't the only time Jones went viral for comments that were picked up on mic. He also attempted to talk trash as the Eagles were kneeling to close out the game, with quarterback Jalen Hurts kindly directing him toward the scoreboard:

It wasn't the prettiest win for the Birds, who managed just 216 yards from scrimmage and only 94 yards through the air in the Super Bowl rematch. But for the third straight time the Eagles beat the Chiefs, and that's all that mattered to them.

"I think that's the most important thing is finding a way to win," Hurts told reporters after the game. "Given the competitive nature of the game and how our games have gone when we've played this team—it's a really good team, we've got a ton of respect for them obviously—you've got to come in with a sense of focus, you've got to stay patient within yourself, stay patient within the team and your role, and let things come to you. And I think, as a team, we showed up when we needed to the most. That's the most important thing in this league."
