
Yankees vs. Blue Jays 2026 London Series Canceled by MLB Due to Scheduling Issues
MLB won't be returning to London for the 2026 season due to a scheduling issues with the host site and television networks.
The league announced the previously scheduled two-game series between the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays on June 13-14 will no longer take place at London Stadium.
Per Ronald Blum of the Associated Press, who originally reported the cancelation, MLB determined it wouldn't be possible to convert the field and make it game-ready by the planned date because West Ham is scheduled to host its Premier League finale against Leeds on May 24.

Fox, which was scheduled to broadcast the games, would have had difficulty rescheduling because it is also the main television partner for the FIFA World Cup from June 11-July 19.

In the lead up to last year's London Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets, MLB field consultant Murray Cook told The Athletic's Roshane Thomas it took 18 days to transform the field at London Stadium.
Cook noted that in past years it took between 18 to 21 days for the conversion.
"There's 345 tons of infield clay," Cook said of the process. "Then you have to sort out the turf, the netting, padding, dugouts, but what is great about it is most of the stuff we used last year, we were able to use this year."
MLB debuted the London Series in 2019 with the Yankees and Boston Red Sox playing two games. A series between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals in 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It wasn't until the 2023 season that MLB returned to London when the Cubs and Cardinals played two games. There was no London Series scheduled for this year.
Despite not having any international games as part of the 2026 MLB regular-season schedule, the league will have several players feature prominently in the World Baseball Classic from March 5-17.
MLB has not yet confirmed where the Yankees-Blue Jays games will be played.
