Jadeveon Clowney Downplays Being Cowboys' Micah Parsons Replacement After Contract
After signing with the Dallas Cowboys this week, veteran edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney made it clear that he's not trying to fill the void left by Micah Parsons after he was traded to the Green Bay Packers.
Per The Athletic's Jon Machota, Clowney was asked if he views himself as a replacement for Parsons, and he said he's focused on being himself.
"No, Micah Parsons is Micah Parsons," Clowney responded. "I'm Jadeveon Clowney. I'm coming in to do me, just do my thing, help in any way I can and play football."

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The 32-year-old spent the 2024 season with the Carolina Panthers, starting all 14 of his appearances and producing 46 total tackles, 11 quarterback hits and 5.5 sacks. Machota noted that his deal with the Cowboys is for one year and around $4 million, and the team brought him in "to have him help a group of edge rushers who have struggled to get pressure" after Parsons was shipped away.
Through just two games, Parsons' presence has already paid off in a big way for the Packers, as the rank second in the NFL with eight sacks. The Cowboys have totaled four sacks this year, three of which came in this past Sunday's 40-37 overtime victory against the New York Giants.
Clowney said he expects to be in action for Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears, so the Cowboys won't have to wait long to see what he can bring to the table as they seek a second straight win.
