Packers Reportedly Had Romeo Doubs Trade 'Conversations' in Offseason, Deal Unlikely
After bolstering their receiver room in the offseason by drafting Matthew Golden, the Green Bay Packers at one point kicked the tires on potentially trading Romeo Doubs.
Per The Athletic's Matt Schneidman, the Packers had "conversations" about dealing Doubs during the offseason.
Despite those talks over the summer, Schneidman noted a trade involving Doubs doesn't seem likely to happen during the season.

Doubs was the name that popped up as the most-likely trade candidate because his status with the organization seemed uncertain. He was suspended for the Packers' game against the Los Angeles Rams for missing multiple practices.
Despite the offseason questions, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told Kay Adams in no uncertain terms that Doubs wasn't going anywhere.
Even if the Packers wanted to move Doubs, they really can't afford to do so right now. Golden hasn't made much of an impact on the offense with 15 yards on two catches through two games.
Christian Watson appears to be on track to return soon after the Packers' bye in Week 5, but he will likely be integrated slowly after tearing his ACL in Week 18 last season.
Jayden Reed announced on Tuesday he had successful surgery on his broken foot and broken clavicle. His recovery timetable is expected to be six to eight weeks, which would have him back on the field by Week 9 at the earliest.
Doubs has been the No. 1 receiver for the Packers so far this season. He has 96 yards and one touchdown on five catches through two games. Tight end Tucker Kraft is the go-to pass-catcher, leading the team in targets (11), receptions (eight), receiving yards (140) and touchdowns (two).
Until the Packers have some clarity about the returns of Watson and Reed, along with getting improved play from Golden, they need Doubs right now to keep their passing game going strong.
Considering that Green Bay has looked like the best team in the NFL through the first two weeks, subtracting talent from the roster should be the last thing general manager Brian Gutekunst is thinking about right now.
