Chiefs' Travis Kelce Laments Costly Drop vs. Eagles, 'Should Have Never Happened'
Travis Kelce didn't make excuses for his costly drop in the end zone that resulted in an interception in the Kansas City Chiefs' 20-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
On the latest episode of the New Heights podcast (starts at 30:05 mark), Kelce explained the drop "should have never happened" and it "cost us big time."
The Chiefs were struggling to get much of anything going on offense against the Eagles, but they had a chance to take a 17-13 lead early in the fourth quarter after getting deep into the red zone.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Kelce ran a great route and Patrick Mahomes delivered a perfect pass that should have been an easy touchdown, but the future Hall-of-Fame tight end bobbled the ball right into the hands of Eagles safety Andrew Mukuba.
Philadelphia's ensuing offensive possession ended with a Jalen Hurts touchdown run to extend the lead to 20-10.
The Chiefs did get a touchdown later in the fourth quarter on a 49-yard pass from Mahomes to Tyquan Thornton that cut the deficit to three, but the Eagles were able to run out the clock to seal the win.
Making matters even worse is Kelce has actually looked good through two games this season aside from the bobble. He has 108 yards on six catches, averaging 18.0 yards per reception, and his separation stats have been strong.
Unfortunately, all that anyone will think about from Week 2 is the play that Kelce didn't make. The Chiefs have now lost their first two games of the season. They hadn't started 0-2 since 2014 when Andy Reid was in his second season as head coach.
If you include the loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl 59, the Chiefs have lost three straight games for the first time since 2017 when Mahomes was a rookie and sitting behind Alex Smith.
The 2014 campaign also marks the last time Kansas City missed the playoffs. Kelce and the Chiefs will go for their first win of the season on Sunday Night Football when the play the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.
