Conor McGregor 'Dead Serious' About Fighting at UFC White House Event, Dana White Says

UFC fans hoping to see Conor McGregor fight in the upcoming White House event will surely love what Dana White had to say during his appearance on the Impaulsive podcast.

"Him and I have been talking nonstop, and he's like, 'I'm dead serious. I want this. I'm training. I'm back in the pool. I'm doing all the s--t.' So we'll see," the UFC president said. "We still got a long way to go. We still got a long way to go until February when we start making this card." 

White's comments aren't particularly surprising.

After all, McGregor himself recently confirmed his commitment to the event:

"I'm ecstatic," McGregor said. "The Mac is back, and what better event than to grace the White House lawn. ... I'm very, very excited, very eager, very motivated. Bring it on, baby."

As for the event itself, Alex Leary of the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month that it will likely take place in June 2026 even though there were initial thoughts of having it on July 4 as part of the celebration of the United States' 250th birthday.

McGregor would certainly provide more star power to the event seeing how he is one of the most notable names in UFC history. He is a former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion and was once arguably the sport's biggest draw.

However, he is 37 years old and hasn't fought since he lost via technical knockout to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. He broke his leg in that bout, continuing a stretch that saw him lose three of his last four fights.
