Packers' Jordan Love 'Excited' to Face Aaron Rodgers, Hopes to Get His Steelers Jersey
The Green Bay Packers don't face Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers until Oct. 26, but Jordan Love already has the game circled on his calendar.
"Me and A-Rod chatted a little bit before the season … just saying good luck to each other," he said during a Tuesday appearance on The Rich Eisen Show (6:23 mark). "I definitely want to get that jersey after we play the Steelers. I'm excited to go up against him. … I love A-Rod, got a lot of love and respect for him."
The game is in Pittsburgh, so it won't be a homecoming for Rodgers after he was a Super Bowl champion and four-time MVP during his 18 years with the team that drafted him.
The last three of those years overlapped with Love after the Packers selected the Utah State product in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft, which may have created something of an awkward situation since Rodgers was still one of the league's best at the time.
But there clearly isn't any lingering bad blood given Love's latest comments, and the Packers surely don't regret drafting him when they did.
After all, they are off to a 2-0 start and look like arguably the best team in the NFL. Rodgers won his Super Bowl with Green Bay in his age-27 season, and Love is looking to do the same on a loaded squad this year.
The outlook isn't as encouraging for Rodgers' Steelers following a 1-1 start that included a narrow win over the New York Jets and home loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Rodgers has five touchdown passes to two interceptions and has looked better than he did with the Jets last season, but Pittsburgh's ceiling is likely lower than Green Bay's.
Still, all eyes will be on both quarterbacks when they face each other next month, and Love is looking forward to the chance to earn a head-to-head victory and exchange jerseys in the aftermath.
