Juan Soto Shows off Cornrows in Video Ahead of Mets-Padres amid MLB Playoff Race

New York Mets star Juan Soto showed off a new look ahead of Tuesday night's home game against the San Diego Padres.

Soto showed up to Citi Field in cornrows, according to a video shared Tuesday on Instagram.

First pitch between the Padres and Mets is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET in Queens.

The Padres head into Tuesday with a firm hold on the second slot in the NL West. The club could clinch a postseason spot as soon as Friday, per MLB.com's AJ Cassavell.

The Mets, meanwhile, head into the game in the final NL Wild Card slot, but with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants all within 2.0 games behind.

New York came dangerously close to sliding out of the postseason picture altogether during a recent eight-game losing streak, the club's longest since 2018.

The Mets finally snapped the slump last Sunday, when Pete Alonso hit a walk-off home run against the Texas Rangers to get his club back in the win column.

There are now just 12 games remaining in the Mets' regular season, with back-to-back home series against the Padres and Washington Nationals, followed by road series against the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins.

The Mets will hope Soto's new look can spark some clutch performances as the club looks to clinch a postseason spot down the stretch.
