Daniel Jones, Colts Stun NFL Fans by Beating Nix, Broncos After Costly Penalty on FG

Timothy RappSep 14, 2025

The Indianapolis Colts, led by quarterback Daniel Jones, are 2-0. We repeat—the Colts are 2-0.

Yeahhhhhhh... don't act like you saw that coming.

Indianapolis beat the Denver Broncos on Sunday evening, 29-28, as Spencer Shrader hit a game-winning, 45-yard field goal as time expired.

That field goal wasn't without drama, however. Shrader missed his first shot at it from 60 yards away, but the Broncos were called for a leverage penalty (illegally using a teammate to assist in a block attempt), giving the Colts a second shot. They took it.

As you can imagine, NFL fans and pundits were shocked in the aftermath:

Perhaps even more surprising than the finish was Jones' performance. The New York Giants' castaway threw for 316 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for a score, leading the Colts on seven scoring drives and 473 yards of total offense.

Here's a wild stat—the Colts haven't punted this season. They had two drives end Sunday on downs and one at the conclusion of the first half, but zero punts.

Nobody had "the Colts will be an offensive juggernaut" on their NFL bingo cards for the 2025 season, but here we are. Granted, we're just two games into the season, but the Jones Era in Indianapolis has gotten off to a rousing start.
