Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Eagles fans called out Mahomes and the Chiefs as they fell to 0-2.
It was a slow offensive start as both defenses held firm in the first quarter. The Chiefs came up empty after a missed 58-yard field goal from Harrison Butker, and the Eagles capitalized late in the quarter with a 13-yard touchdown run by Barkley to take a 7-0 lead into the second.
Butker quickly redeemed himself, drilling a 56-yarder early in the second quarter to cut the deficit. After a defensive stop, Mahomes capped a drive with a 13-yard rushing touchdown, giving Kansas City its first lead at 10-7.
Philadelphia answered before the half, driving into field goal range after a key penalty and setting up Jake Elliott for a 58-yard kick, which he nailed to tie the game at 10 heading into halftime.
The Eagles shut out Kansas City in the third quarter—a rare feat—and took a 13-10 lead thanks to a 51-yard field goal by Elliott.
On the Chiefs' first drive of the fourth, Mahomes' pass intended for Kelce was tipped and intercepted by Eagles safety Andrew Mukuba. Philadelphia capitalized on the turnover, draining the clock and extending the lead with a signature "tush-push" touchdown to go up 20-10.
Despite a near-miracle comeback on a 49-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes to Tyquan Thornton with three minutes remaining, time wasn't on the Chiefs' side. The Eagles held on to win, repeating their Super Bowl rematch victory.
The Eagles will return home next Sunday to host the Los Angeles Rams, while the Chiefs hit the road to face the New York Giants.
