Travis Hunter's Snap Count, Box Score in Historic Game for Jaguars in Loss to Bengals

Andrew PetersSep 14, 2025

Travis Hunter's second NFL game is in the books.

Hunter and the Jacksonville Jaguars fell to 1-1 with a 31-27 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, but Hunter still had some notable moments as he continues to gain his bearings.

The No. 2 overall pick had three receptions for 22 yards on offense plus a pair of tackles and a pass breakup on defense. In total, he played 42 snaps on offense and 38 on defense, making him the first player to do so since at least 2012.

Hunter was a bit more productive on offense in Week 1, recording six receptions for 33 yards, but he didn't see nearly as much action on defense, playing just six snaps. He said after that win over the Carolina Panthers that he wanted to "do more."

"I did my job. That was the main focus, me doing my job," Hunter said, per ESPN's Michael DiRocco. "I did what they asked me to do, and I know I could do more and I know I could do better."

Heading into the season, head coach Liam Coen said Hunter's responsibilities would mainly be on offense, calling him an "every-down wide receiver and situational corner," per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Coen seemingly saw something different against the Bengals that led him to use Hunter almost evenly as a wide receiver and a cornerback.

Having a player like Hunter who plays two positions well is a rare feat in today's NFL. While Hunter is a generational talent who can impact the game no matter where he is, the Jaguars might need a bit of time to figure out how they want to use the two-way star.

For now, he'll look to bring his best no matter what the game plan has in store for him.
