Giants OT James Hudson Benched After Making NFL History with 4 Penalties on 1 Drive
New York Giants offensive tackle James Hudson had a first half to forget in Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Hudson was benched after he was called for four different penalties on a single drive. The penalties were two false starts and two unnecessary roughness calls, and Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News noted he became the first player this century to be whistled for four different penalties on the same drive.

The penalties all came on New York's first possession and undercut what was an impressive march down the field.
One of the unnecessary roughness calls happened on a 10-yard run by Cam Skattebo and the next one came on a 50-yard completion from Russell Wilson to Wan'Dale Robinson. The completion would have put the Giants on the Dallas 2-yard line, but they had to back up to the 17.
They ended up settling for a field goal.
Hudson entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in the 2021 draft, and he played his first four seasons for the AFC North team. However, he appeared in just four games last season.
New York signed him ahead of the 2025 campaign, but he was only in Sunday's starting lineup to take the place of the injured Andrew Thomas. That start was short-lived, though, as head coach Brian Daboll quickly had enough of Hudson's penalties.
He instead turned to rookie Marcus Mbow, whom the Giants selected with a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
