Steelers Insiders Reportedly Said 'Told Ya So' After Justin Fields Impressed for Jets
Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields balled out against his old team in Week 1, throwing for 218 yards and a touchdown and rushing for 48 yards and two scores as the New York Jets narrowly lost, 34-32.
A number of folks within Pittsburgh's organization reportedly weren't surprised by the performance, as The Athletic's Dianna Russini wrote on Saturday:
"Last year, when the Steelers had both Russell Wilson and Fields, coach Mike Tomlin made the switch from Fields to Wilson six games in, despite some internal pushback and with the Steelers 4-2. Fields had plenty of supporters in the locker room and even on the staff. The team rolled with Wilson, who gave them a spark early but ultimately flamed out.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"So when the Steelers lined up against the Jets last week and saw Fields on the other sideline—playing refreshed, decisive and free—let's just say there were more than a few people saying "Told ya so" inside the organization.
The knock against Fields has often been that he's far more impactful with his legs than his arm, often missing throwing windows and holding onto the ball for too long while inviting pressure.
But he was 16-of-22 against the Steelers, didn't turn the ball over and only took one sack. It was an incredibly efficient effort.
Granted, his replacement in Pittsburgh, Aaron Rodgers, threw for 244 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Steelers to a win. So while Fields still clearly has fans within the Steelers, it's hard to deny that the Rodgers era is off to a promising start.
